Scammers are targetting NHS Highland patients, the health board has warned.

It took to social media to warn the public that scammers may be targetting people using the NHS Highland Telecare Service.

And it has urged people to be on their guard so they do not become fraud victims.

Commenting on Twitter, an NHS Highland spokesperson said: "We have been made aware of a scam which is targetting individuals who use the NHS Highland Telecare Service.

"Scammers are telephoning individuals asking for their bank details for a telecare service. The company is operating under the name 'Doctor Alert'.

"NHS Highland Telecare will never ask for your bank details over the phone.

"Please share with those you know who use Telecare but are not on social media."
