Royal couple to visit Grantown later today
There will be royal visitors in the strath this afternoon with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh taking a tour of Grantown.
The couple will arrive by helicopter at the Healthfield showground at around 2.10pm and as part of their visit will have a walk along the High Street.
They will call in first at The Grantown Remakery - the former Strathy office - at around 2.20pm where the social enterprise has been making great strides with upcycling furniture and providing training opportunities.
The royal couple are then scheduled to make a short stop at the town’s popular award-winning High Street bookshop The Bookmark run by Marjory Marshall.

They will then walk up the High Street to the The Royal British Legion Scotland Strathspey branch in The Square where they will be greeted by Grantown school band and meet local organisation representatives.
After that they will then travel to the outskirts of the town to see the Cairn Distillery in operation at Lower Gaich and will also mark the occasion by planting a tree.
The royal couple also have other duties on their trip north which will include an earlier visit to Golspie where they are expected to arrive around 9am and due to stay for around two hours before making the flight to the Strathspey capital.
Well-wishers are more than welcome to turn-out to greet the royal couple.
Edward, the youngest son of The Queen and Prince Philip, was given the title of Duke of Edinburgh on his 59th birthday on March 10, 2023 by his older brother King Charles.
It is a title strongly associated with their father who was Duke of Edinburgh for more than 70 years, up until his death in 2021.
Edward’s ducal title is not hereditary so it will revert to the crown on his death.
