Two weeks of maintenance works worth £25,000 are scheduled to start on a bridge on the A95 near Grantown.

The improvements involve replacing the parapets on Congash Bridge to current standards which will improve road user safety for years to come.

The A95 will remain open throughout these works however temporary traffic lights will be in place for safety starting Monday 13 February for two weeks.

All traffic management will remain in place to protect roadworkers as well as motorists until the completion of the works.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: "These essential maintenance works will help ensure the Congash Bridge remains in a safe working standard for years to come.

"While our teams will do all they can to minimise disruption during the improvements, we’d encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and leave extra time to reach their destination."

The works will be carried out by BEAR Scotland and have been planned in consultation with Police Scotland, Highland Council and Transport Scotland.

Real time traffic information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @trafficscotland.
