River "Banksy" strikes in the Cairngorms
A phantom cairn builder has been working overtime in the strath!
One or two enigmatic little structures have been appearing along the River Feshie by Kincraig over the last four years or so, but all of a sudden the collection has mushroomed, much to the delight of Easter visitors.
"We have our suspicions, but we’re not absolutely sure who is building them," said local man Andrew Brien, of Kincraig, "but these are great fun and a real talking point for all of us.
"We all hope the mysterious genius is going to add some more."
The structures are all soundly put together with water-shaped stone and gravity – and no mortar of any kind.
They vary from a few inches to nearly four feet in height, and one of the new additions stands proudly on his own two feet.
Mr Brien asked the ‘Strathy’ not to be too specific on the location of the biggest "family" of cairns.
He said: "They can be found easily enough by those who like to leave the beaten track, a little like the master builder who has been creating these little gems."
