Get ready for Santa in Strathspey!

Lucky children in Strathspey are to get a sneak preview of Santa next week, on his new motorised sleigh.

"We will be joining him going round the streets of Grantown and then visiting Cromdale, Dulnain and Nethybridge from December 16," said Grantown Fire Station crew commander Ailison Jarvis.

"He will visit children and hand out sweets and he tell us he hopes they will come out to see our fire engine lit up with Xmas lights and say hello to our firefighting Santa!"

It's a first here for him, having a fire appliance set aside especially for his trip, which will also see the firefighters joining the big man to rattle some buckets in the hope of raising some cash for local charities.

"We're like him," said Alison, "and want to give something back to the community.

"Local folk have always been so supportive of us when we have been raising funds for the Fire Fighters Charity."

Santa's itinerary starts at Grantown on Tuesday 17, from 6pm.

He will visit Cromdale on Wednesday 18, also from 6pm and then move on to Dulnain from 7.15pm

On Thursday 19 he will be calling in Nethybridge at 6pm.
