Residents in parts of Carrbridge claim they were not informed of planned power cut
Residents in parts of Carrbridge have said they have not been contacted by SSEN over a planned power outage.
Electricity is expected to be restored at 4pm later today after being cut off at 9am.
A number of residents have taken to local social media to say there were not given prior notice of the planned power outage.
SSEN Distribution has since confirmed power has been turned off temporarily to 37 local properties between 9am and 4pm today whilst the work is taking place.
The outage was to ensure the safety of customers and staff working on site.
It had initially been expected that electricity would return at around 1.30pm but ‘complications’ mean that this will now not be until the later time.
SSEN Distribution has blamed a technical error for affected residents not being contacted.
When plans for work like this are finalised, the power giant would usually send out a letter to those customers losing their powers but this correspondence was never sent out.
A spokesperson from SSEN Distribution said: “We’d like to apologise to our customers in Carrbridge who were not contacted in advance of today’s planned essential work on our local equipment.
“Situations like this are very rare, and as soon as we were aware that these letters had not gone out, we arranged for teams in our customer contact centre to call the customers directly.”
Online, SSEN has stated for those living in the PH23 postcode area on their power track information site: “We have turned off your electricity supply to allow us to safely carry out essential work to our electrical equipment.”
