Repairs to Laggan Causeway due to start on Monday
BEAR Scotland will be carrying out reconstruction works worth £90,000 to repair a section of embankment on the A86 Laggan Causeway.
The work will start this Monday and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
The works, undertaken on behalf of Transport Scotland, will involve the reconstruction of the previously failed embankment, followed by road resurfacing.
The embankment works will be undertaken from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
A BEAR spokesman said: "The temporary traffic signals currently in place next to the slip will remain in operation while the works are undertaken.
The surfacing works will be completed over a two night period currently scheduled for March 30 and 31.
This will require a road closure between 9pm and 6am due to the narrow width of the road on the causeway and for the safety of road users and the workforce.
A diversion route will be signed during this closure which will be via the A889 and A9.
Advanced notification signs will be situated in the vicinity of the works to prior to the closure advising of the dates and associated diversion route while the closure is in place.
BEAR Scotland’s spokesman for the North West Unit, Eddie Ross said: “These works will enable us to return the road to its full capacity once again by reopening a section which has been restricted to single lane traffic for the past two years.
“Although no significant delays to traffic are expected throughout the works, we encourage motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time in their journey when possible.”
