No injuries reported after Strathspey blaze which smoked for over six hours

Last night’s fire at Mains of Garten Farm claimed one of its wooden chalets despite a long battle by the strath’s firefighters.

At the height of the blaze, four appliances were in attendance, with first on the scene crews from Aviemore and Grantown.

They battled for more than six hours to extinguish the flames by using two breathing apparatuses, one main jet and one hose reel jet.

The stop message was received at 8.23pm, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told the Strathy last night, with crews leaving the scene a short time later.

Today a spokesperson confirmed engineers from SSE had been contacted to isolate the amenities.

Police Scotland told the Strathy they had been alerted to the blaze but did not attend.
