Raigmore ward re-opens
Ward 5C at Raigmore Hospital is to reopen (Wednesday April 22) following a temporary closure of 24 hours.
The ward was closed as a precaution to allow the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Team to assess the situation but with no outbreak declared for the ward it was agreed to re-open it.
Ward 7C and Ward 2C remain closed to new admissions and visitors are being asked to stay away.
“There are no new cases of diarrhoea and or vomiting on either ward so the numbers remain at nine
affected patients on Ward 7C and 17 affected patients on Ward 2C,” confirmed Dr Adam Brown, Consultant Microbiologist for NHS Highland.
“I’m pleased that with no outbreak declared on Ward 5C we are able to reopen the ward this evening.
“Ward 7C and Ward 2C do remain closed to new admissions with no visiting allowed. I would like to thank our patients, their families and members of the public for their understanding about our restriction on visiting.
“Again we would ask members of the public that if they, or someone you live with, has been ill with any vomiting or diarrhoea within the previous 48hrs they refrain from coming into the hospital.”
