Raigmore Hospital retains healthy eating award
Raigmore Hospital has retained an award for supporting healthier eating.
The hospital’s dining room, main café and outpatient tea bar, as well as the café at the Centre for Health Science, have maintained a ‘healthy living plus’ status following a recent reassessment.
To maintain the award, Raigmore has to provide and promote healthy-living choices while avoiding the promotion of non-healthy-living items.
At least 70 per cent of the food offered must be healthy-living choices with at least half the items in each section of the menu being a healthy-living choice.
Crawford Howat, service manager for hotel services at Raigmore Hospital, said: "We are absolutely committed to providing healthy choices to all those who are coming in to the catering department and are very happy that the assessment team has recognised that.
"Feedback from patients, staff and visitors who use the facilities is positive and they tell us they are happy with the food and service being provided.
"We also continue to see a growing demand for healthier food.
"Maintaining 'healthy living plus' status reaffirms the commitment shown by everyone involved to ensure that anyone coming into Raigmore has a good choice of healthy options."
