RAF man's Cairngorm charity conquest
A physical training instructor from RAF Kinloss is taking on three strenuous challenges to raise funds for the HALO Trust.
Corporal Chris Williams has just completed the first quest involving Cairn Gorm to help bring in money for the world's oldest and largest humanitarian landmine clearance organisation.
Corporal Williams, (28) has carefully planned out the next couple of months, which started off with the Wolftrek Challenge at the weekend.
The 45 mile overnight trek began in Forres and the finish was at the summit of Cairn Gorm.
Williams finished in a time of 11 hours, coming fourth in a field of 300 competitors, and he was part of the winning team along with boss, Flight Lieutenant Steve Riley, and RAF Kinloss colleague, Senior Aircraftman Lee Washington.
Williams, originally from Dursley, in Gloucestershire, is now in training for the Nokia Coast to Coast event in September.
It involves covering 105 miles by foot, bike and kayak from Nairn to Glen Coe.
He will finish off the trio of challenges by running his first ever marathon, the Loch Ness marathon on October 2.
Speaking after completing the Wolftrek, Williams said; "The Wolftrek challenge was a really great event, and coming fourth as an individual and first as a team was fantastic.
"I hope now that all my preparations for the next two challenges go as smoothly."
Williams is hoping to raise around £500 for the HALO Trust over the course of the three events.
