Racing returns to popular Aviemore attraction
The five red lights have all finally gone out and racing is under way once again at the Aviemore Kart Raceway after the Covid lockdown.
The popular attraction on the northern outskirts of the village at Granish reopened yesterday for the first time since the end of last year.
Owner Colin Bain told the Strathy everyone connected with the go-kart track is delighted to be back.
The racetrack was last open just after Christmas.
Mr Bain said it had been a steady start yesterday and is hoping that there is good local demand over the Easter and into the summer.
At present only residents of the Highland Council area can visit due to the current Covid restrictions but this is scheduled to be lifted by the end of this month,
Mr Bain said: "It is great to be back and to be open for arrive and drives and private group bookings
"We have been looking forward to this day for a long time and we are ready to provide some awesome fun for groups of up to 15 drivers."
Covid-19 safety measures are in place including limiting numbers to 15 customers at a time and all drivers being asked to keep their helmet on whilst they are in the pits in order to protect each other and our staff.
All the raceway's driving suits and helmets are disinfected after each use in a new, specialised ozone disinfecting room.
Aviemore Kart Raceway also had a special visitor just a few days before yesterday's reopening when a Ferrari tested the track.
