Have you herd what happened at Kingussie High School today?

Some new faces moo-ved in this morning just in time for the start of the winter term at the secondary school.

A group of Highland cows strolled the grounds before being safely escorted to their home pastures after their impromptu visit from a nearby field.

Their visit created quite a stir as the classrooms returned from the two-week half-term break.

Headteacher Ian Adamson explained: “When our PE teacher Callum Carson called me from the playing fields to tell me we had Highland cows on the school pitches I thought it was an excuse for him not to take pupils outside and he was ‘milking it’!

"However, Mr Carson said he was ‘udderly’ amazed when he saw the visitors and I had ‘butter’ come outside to see for myself.

"With a bit of teamwork the cows were safely ushered out of the school and into a safe space.”

Some of the two legged pupils might want to watch their step when playing sports following the visit.

Followers of the school's social media account also weighed in with their own puns.

Sandi Mcwilliams posted: "Biology lesson just got real."

While David Noble jested: "Maybe they are after a moosic lesson or two."
