Pucker up for launch of festive season in Aviemore
The Aviemore community will be coming together tomorrow to celebrate all things winter and the beginning of the 2022/23 snowsports season.
Aviemore and Glenmore Community Trust is again hosting the village's 'Winter Launch Festival'.
AGCT spokeswoman Kirsty Bruce said: "We are delighted with how the event is shaping up, it’s a fabulous demonstration of community spirit and all things winter."
There is plenty of entertainment lined up at the community ice rink at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort including:
• ice skating – wear a Christmas jumper or festive headwear for a discount on ice skating sessions from 4pm to 5.30pm and 7.30pm to 9pm.
• Rail jam with real snow.
• Slap shot challenge – can you get one past the ice hockey goalie?
• Roasting marshmallows on fire pits.
• Ice hockey demo – puck drop at 6.15pm to 7.15pm.
• Gluhwein and mince pies from the Festive Bothy Box.
• Barbecue; and
• giant inflatable snow globe
The rink will also be hosting a junior three-on-three ice hockey tournament on Saturday from11.30am to 1.30pm sponsored by Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd.
Mrs Bruce said: "Fundraising from this year's celebration will be shared between MND Scotland and developing the rink's community recreational ice sports programmes including the Aviemore Avalanche’s junior ice hockey team whose players are proud to be wearing their new hockey shirts at their first home mini tournament on Saturday when they will be hosting Inverness Highlanders and Moray Juniors."
