Aviemore confectioner asks - sweetly - its PO customers to wait outside

PLEASE WAIT OUTSIDE: If necessary...

A Badenoch Post Office is kindly asking its customers to queue outside - in their own best interests.

Aviemore’s postmaster Chris Lewis explained that it was all about the confectionery shop which contains the PO counter having to make enough money to sustain the public service so vital to the community.

“Since the last bank closed in the valley, the queues for the Post Office have, at times, become unsustainable,” said Mr Lewis.

“This has a knock on effect on our retail shop, where customers cannot get into the shop or get to many of the products.

“The Post Office just tell us to ‘tell people to come back, your shop is the priority’, but obviously it is difficult to do this.

“Now, though, we really need to make our shop a priority. We want customers to realise that if our shop wasn't there then there would be NO Post Office!”

A new queueing system has been put in place for the Post Office.

“There will be a maximum of six people in the queue if the queue is to the last barrier. We will ask you to wait outside until a space opens up or you are welcome to come back later.

“Please don't be offended if you are asked to wait outside by a member of our team. Please bare with us while we try to get this up and running.

“Thank you for your continued support and understanding in this matter.”
