Political heavyweights heading to Grantown
Lib Dem heavyweight and former Deputy First Minister Jim Wallace and former First Minister Jack McConnell will join Danny Alexander MP at a No Campaign street stall in Grantown tomorrow (Wednesday).
Mr Alexander said the event is another chance for Strathspey residents to hear the positive message of staying together in the UK. It will take place at 4.30pm in The Square.
The local MP has held a series of Highland public meetings on the Independence Referendum in recent weeks.
The next will take place at Millburn Academy in Inverness this Friday with Highland MP Charles Kennedy and leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie MSP.
Mr Alexander said: "The campaigning ahead of the referendum has really moved up a gear in the Highlands. I delighted that our next stop on the campaign trail will be in Grantown.
"In three weeks, Scots will make the most important decision on the future of Scotland for a generation. I will be campaigning hard to make sure the Highlands delivers a strong no vote on September 18th and helps to keep Scotland rooted in the UK family of nations.
"I want to give as many people as possible the chance to ask us about those views, but also what to hear from people about my call for more powers to be returned to the Highlands.
"After a strong no vote, I want to see the Central Belt loosen its grip on decision making in the north which has tightened under the SNP Government in Edinburgh."
