Police name lorry driver killed in A9 crash near Kingussie
Police have named the lorry driver who was killed in an early morning accident near Kingussie on the A9 yesterday (Thursday).
He is 50-year-old Alexander Fraser, from Inverness.
The accident occurred at 6.10am around one mile north of the Kingussie on the A9 and involved two HGVs. The road which had been left strewn with debris and cargo from the lorries finally reopened at around 8pm yesterday.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Mr Fraser’s family respectfully request privacy to grieve at this difficult time."
It is understood Mr Fraser worked for M&H Carriers of Carsegate North Road in the city.
Argos confirmed the other driver was working for Norbert Dentressangle, the firm’s distribution operator in Scotland. He was taken to Raigmore Hospital with minor injuries and later released.
He had been on his way back to Norbert Dentressangle’s centre at Mossend in Lanarkshire after making a store delivery when the accident happened.
Diversions were in place via the B9152.
