Police have said that there will be further searches for missing Strathy reporter Clive Dennier.

Clive failed to appear at the newspaper's Grantown office last Monday (March 25) and concerned work colleague raised the alarm.

His silver VW Polo car was found on Friday morning, after a nationwide appeal for information, parked at Kinlochhourn.

A widescale search was launched of the remote Knoydart area which was co-ordinated by Northern Constabulary and involving the Glenelg, Kintail and RAF mountain rescue teams, the coastguard and police dog units.

The land search was stood down on Monday but continued by air.

A police spokesman told the "Strathy": “We have not given up the search are in constant contact with Mr Dennier’s family keeping them up to date with events.

“There was no formal search carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday, but there are plans and we will confirm them once they are finalised.

"As yet we don’t have an absolute update to give you.

“It’s difficult to say exactly how large an area has been covered, but it has been.

"It is very difficult terrain, with low and high level hill paths to search in difficult conditions. Some of the higher paths are very steep.

“It’s very sad that we have nothing more positive to report at this stage.”
