A young man has died and another has been left fighting for his life in an incident which police believe could be a related to taking a drug known as "Einsteins".

Police and emergency services were last night called to a house in the Raigmore area of Inverness at around 6.25pm following reports of a man requiring medical assistance.

The 20-year-old man was taken by road ambulance to the city's Raigmore Hospital for treatment but died at around 7.48pm.

A second man is in a serious condition at the hospital in connection with the incident.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing into circumstances surrounding the death and the second man's admission to hospital.

"However, one possible line of enquiry is that the death may be drugs related.

"A drug possibly involved may be an ecstasy type of tablet, which is bluey/green in colour and has the letters E=MC2 inscribed on it, sometimes referred to as 'Einsteins'."

Police have said they are working closely with colleagues in NHS Highland regarding the incident.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
