Police are appealing for information on a missing 71 year old Grantown man

Police and mountain rescue teams are currently carrying out a search for a missing 71 year old man from Grantown.

The man was last seen near his home address at around 5pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A police spokesman said the search is being conducted in and around the Grantown area and along the River Spey.

Members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, RAF MRT, RAF Search and Rescue helicopter, police dog section and local officers are taking part.

The man is described as 71 year old, white, dark, greying hair, medium build and 5ft 10ins.

He was last seen wearing a black waist length jacket, dark coloured v-neck jumper, dark navy/black trousers and white trainers or shoes.

Police and search teams are continuing the search for the man.

Anyone who may have seen the missing person in or around Grantown since 5pm yesterday is urged to contact police on (01479) 872922.
