Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault that took place on Grampian Road in Aviemore at the weekend.

A 30-year-old man from Cheshire is alleged to have punched two people following a verbal exchange in the incident at about 3.20am on Saturday. He was later traced and subsequently arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.

• A van parked in a residential street in Newtonmore was broken into and a quantity of tools belonging to a local tradesman were stolen. The thefit is believed to have occurred between 5pm on Monday and daybreak the next day.
