Police in Badenoch and Strathspey are appealing for witnesses following a report of a woman being assaulted by a man on Golf Course Road in Newtonmore.

The woman was uninjured but police said she was clearly left shaken by the incident which occurred at the junction with Curlys Lane on Saturday at around 7pm.

Police said the area is known to be frequented by dog walkers, other pedestrians and car users.

The man ithey want to trace is described as 5’8" or more in height, of stocky/ bulky build with short dark hair.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "We are keen to identify and speak to any person who was in the Golf Course Road area at this time.

"In particular we are keen to identify the driver of a vehicle which is known to have passed through this area at the time travelling in the direction of Curly’s Lane and who may have witnessed the incident and have information to assist us with our enquiries."
