Police are appealing for witnesses following a two vehicle collision on the A9 near Dalwhinnie.

The crash occurred yesterday at about 5.30pm on the Inverness-Perth road and involved a red Ford Focus and a silver Toyota Hilux.

The 72 year old female driver of the Ford Focus sustained serious injuries and was flown to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The passenger from the Ford Focus and driver from the Toyota Hilux were taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital Inverness with less serious injuries.

The road was closed until 12.30am this morning to allow police to carry out a collision investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Chris Murray, of the road policing unit, said "Our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal for anyone who saw these vehicles prior to the collision and who have not already spoken with officers to come forward."

Anyone with information are asked to call 101, quoting reference number PS-20180608-3238.
