Pole axed…. unsightly ‘broadband beanpost’ to be felled in Boat of Garten
An unsightly ‘broadband beanpole’ which sprouted up unepectedly in Boat of Garten is to be felled.
Ariane Burgess, Scottish Green MSP for the Highlands and Islands, has successfully negotiated the removal of the post erected on a community green space.
The pole, installed by Highland Broadband, was part of their work to bring high-speed internet to local homes and businesses.
However, residents were initially puzzled by the sudden appearance of the post.
However, thanks to the MSP’s swift action and a bit of community spirit, Highland Broadband has agreed to take a different route.
After a friendly e-mail from the politician, the company decided that burying the cable underground would be a more fitting solution.
They have already reached out to a local landowner to make this happen.
The pole, which had taken up residence directly outside some homes will be uprooted and removed within the month.
Ms Burgress commented: "We're thrilled to see Highland Broadband's commitment to our community.
“This solution not only preserves a green space but also ensures that everyone can enjoy the benefits of improved broadband without any unsightly poles.
“Going underground with the cable is a win-win for everyone.
“This is a clear signal that when the community and local companies work together, everyone wins.”
