Covid tests will decide if Badenoch bothy sites visit go ahead

Members of Cairngorm National Park planning committee will be taking lateral flow tests today in preparation for a site visit.

All participants have been asked to carry out the Covid check before gathering for a walk at Killiehuntly Farmhouse near Kingussie.

At their December meeting the members agreed to take a closer look at two applications before making their decision.

Wildland Ltd is seeking permission to erect a bothy and form an access track on land 515m south east of the farmhouse.

At the same time, the company owed by Anders and Ann Holch Povslen, Scotland's biggest private landowners, wants the green light given to another bothy and associated service route on land 400m south west of the farmhouse.

The decision went to a close vote at December's virtual meeting, with the members deciding to visit the site for real tomorrow (Friday).

The members will take their lateral flow tests and upload their results to the NHS results service.

Tomorrow morning's committee meeting will decide whether or not the site visit goes ahead.

Only those with a negative result will be allowed to attend the visit tomorrow afternoon, a CNPA spokesperson confirmed.
