PICTURES: Works inspired by Cairngorms landscape to go on show in Grantown

Scottish landscape artist Shona Cammack is exhibiting a new body of original landscape paintings in Grantown from tomorrow.

The exhibition at the High St Merchants Gallery & Cafe in the Strathspey capital will run until July 14.

Cammack lives in Deeside and is a keen hill walker and outdoors enthusiast.

She said: "I am inspired by the high mountains, rivers and pine forests of the Cairngorms as well as the more rugged landscapes of the west coast.

"I collect inspiration for my paintings while exploring these locations, often painting outdoors and working directly from the surroundings."

Cammack continued: "The paintings in this body of work have been created over the recent months, using inspiration and sketches gathered from walks in the Cairngorms and some recent trips to the Isle of Skye.

"Some of the paintings were created on location, while others were made back home in the studio using photographs and sketches as inspiration.

"I usually work in oil paint but have been experimenting recently with different media."

The exhibition is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4.30pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
