Strathspey Canine Club can take a bow-wow after their latest successful companion dog show at Nethy Bridge Community Hall.

There were no fewer than 59 entries, huge support from more than 30 local businesses and great generosity from owners and spectators when it came to the raffle and the top-notch refreshments in the kitchen.

“I’m delighted to say we raised a very good sum – still to be confirmed – for Munlochy Animal Aid,” said treasurer Denise Barley.

“And we were so lucky with the weather, squeezing our day between two pretty rotten ones. We didn’t have to retreat inside the hall and could just enjoy the fresh air.

“The committee worked really hard to make it a special event and they succeeded in getting things back to normal after four difficult years.”

All the classes – pedigree, novelty and fancy dress – were well supported and kept judge Juliette Burnside busy.

The obedience competition was also a big hit and gave judge Sue Williams a very tough day’s work.
