PICTURES: Major blaze at woodchip plant by Aviemore
Emergency services have attended a major blaze this evening that broke out at a woodchip plant on an estate by Aviemore.
The fire occurred at the facility on Alvie Estate between the village and Kincraig.
It is understood that there were no injuries but a signification amount of costly machinery has been destroyed.
Horses had to be moved out of the woods by the site as firefighters battled the blaze and at one point it was feared that the wood was in danger of catching fire.
However, it is understood that the action of the firefighters saved the woodland in the end.
The Strathy has contacted police but they have no information on the incident at this time.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and estate have also been contacted.
