An eye-catching house with stunning views to the Cairngorms has just gone on the market with a price tag of nearly £1 million.

Docharn Lodge, which is just north of Kinveachy junction by Boat of Garten, has been put up for sale with the Galbraith agency's office in Inverness with a guide price of £985,000.

In fact the converted steading which comes with its own let is so eye-catching that it is The Times newspaper's property of the week.

Galbraith partner Rod Christie, who is based in Inverness, said: "It is a very, very pretty property. It is a combination of a really well converted traditional steading and then you've got this big green oak framed extension at the side and a real showstopper of a room.

"Then there is a garage and annexe above it for accommodation or can be used as an let. So it has got everything that you could want and it is in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

"The property is an exceptional example of a converted and extended steading set in the most outstanding location and views across to the Cairngorms.

"It is marrying up top quality of accommodation with a highly desirable location."

Docharn Lodge just recently went onto the market but has already garnered much interest.

Mr Christie said: "I have actually been surprised by just how many viewings we have already had. The property is getting some very good coverage."

He said that all of the interest registered to date was from within the UK.

The property has five bedrooms and extends to more than 3,000 square feet across one single level.

The particulars of Docharn Lodge state: "Docharn Lodge is an exemplary converted and extended steading set in an accessible rural setting between Aviemore and Carrbridge.

"The house sits in an elevated position and enjoys a spectacular outlook to the south across Strathspey towards the Cairngorms.

"The older section is built from stone whilst a more recently built extension is constructed using a green Oak frame with stone and Siberian larch cladding under a slate roof...

"The house has a wonderfully bright and airy feel with large windows and glazed doors flooding the interior with natural light and opening up the magnificent views.

"It has been built and finished to an exemplary standard with the sitting room, open plan dining/living room/hall, the master suite and kitchen being particularly impressive rooms."

Located to the rear of the house is 'the bothy' built three years ago which includes a first floor annexe which has been let successfully as holiday accommodation in recent years.

There are also garden grounds extending to an acre which Galbraith said are 'no less impressive than the house'.
