Grantown raffle takes off for vital air ambulance service

The vital service provided in the Highlands by the Scottish Air Ambulance has been given a lift by a "phenomenally successful" coffee morning in Grantown.

The event on Saturday packed out the Royal British Legion Scotland's Strathspey clubrooms and has so far raised just short of £2000.

"It was an amazing response!" said volunteer Lorna Newlands.

"The success was phenomenal and all the team are so grateful for the support they received from the business community, locals and the Strathspey branch of Royal British Legion Scotland."

The event was hosted by Irene Gallasso and Carole Buley and backed by a team of "fantastic" home bakers.

There was overwhelming support for the raffle, they confirmed, with more than 60 prizes donated.

By today the total raised had reached £1900 but more is due in, the team said.
