Packed line-up for Happyness Comedy Festival

STRATH locals in need of a laugh are sorted this week as the 2014 Happyness Comedy Festival takes place in Inverness.

Running from Thursday until Sunday, the festival features the likes of Patrick Kielty, Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, Sean Hughes and Patrick Monahan, not to mention more off-the-wall acts like the Boy with Tape on His Face.

Other acts on show include Scotland’s own Fred MacAulay, the incomparable Gordon Southern and the young Irish comic Aisling Bea.

The comedy is not just for the grown-ups either, Bec Hill and Frehd the Clown are fun for all ages.

Happyness is also bringing back ‘Class Clowns’, the popular competition to find the funniest student in the region.

There will be a grand final for the competition at Eden Court on Sunday hosted by Patrick Monahan, giving school aged children in the Highlands and Islands an opportunity to improve their confidence, public speaking skills and even combat bullying through the medium of stand up comedy.

Organisers, The Gilded Balloon, are offering a ‘festival pass’ which gets you in to all the Happyness shows for just £75.
