A deal to sell the Cairngorm Hotel in the centre of Aviemore is expected to be completed this weekend.

One of the best-known hotels in Aviemore is set to change hands after three decades.

The sale of the business behind the popular Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore is likely to conclude this weekend.

A deal was described as ‘close’ at the time of the Strathy going to print yesterday.

A spokesman for purchasers, Turas Hotels Limited, confirmed that negotiations have gone well.

Current owner, WKW Partnership Limited, has been in discussions for some weeks with Turas Hotels Ltd which also includes Glen Mhor Hotel and Apartments in Inverness and the Boat Hotel in Boat of Garten within its portfolio.

A spokesman for Turas Hotels Limited said: “We hope the arrangement can be concluded this weekend and are very excited to assume ownership.”

The Cairngorm Hotel is owned by the Aviemore-based Steinle family and Bridge of Allan-based businessman Ray Welham.

The 32-room hotel became a firm favourite in the village from the mid 1990s onwards after being acquired by the late hotelier Peter Steinle and Mr Welham who transformed its fortunes and put the business and its bar and restaurant at the heart of Aviemore.

The Cairn - as it is known locally - is described as Aviemore’s premier independent hotel on its website.

No price has been disclosed for the sale.
