James Peters and Fynn Sterritt qualified in seventh place for the medal race off Marseille.

The medal race for the men’s 49ers involving Fynn Sterritt and James Peters has been delayed.

The fleet in the medal decider had set sail but the race was interrupted at the end of the first lap because of a sudden change in weather.

The Paris 2024 live blog states: “The elements are having an impact down in Marseille!

“The wind changes dramatically (i.e., it goes away) as the boats approach the end of the first lap, with the Uruguayan boat of Hernan Umpierre and Fernando Diz leading.

“But the blue and white chequered flag is raised, signalling the race to stop!

“And now it appears that the course directors are actually going to move the course to a different section of the bay, with competition due to re-start sometime after 3.20pm local time.”
