Aviemore doctors 'disappointed' at no-shows during vaccination clinics

Aviemore Medical Practice has now completed second doses for all patients over 65.

In updating their progress with the Covid-19 vaccination programme, the doctors have confirmed that about half of the At Risk patients under 65 have also received their second jag.

"First doses have been offered to all patients over 50, and the rest of the At Risk under 65s," a spokesperson reports on social media.

"However, we are aware of a number of patients who we have been unable to contact, mostly due to invalid phone numbers.

"If you have changed any of your phone numbers or address since you registered, and haven't already let us know, please use the Contact Us section in our website to update your details.

"We will be writing to all patients over 50 who haven't received a first dose in the next few weeks."

The practice's last clinic was on Friday and included some patients in the 40-50 age group.

The next clinic is scheduled for the last week of April or first week of May.

"As people are starting to return to work, and are out and about more, it is likely we'll make more use of inviting eligible patients to book covid vaccination appointments online.

"To do this you will need to be registered for online services - this can be done under the Contact Us section on our website. Please don't book an appointment unless you have received a text inviting you to do so. All booked appointments are checked for eligibility before the clinic."

Regarding missed appointments, the practice, while pleased to have received a lot of appreciation from those at last week's clinics, was "very disappointed" to see the number of people, particularly at Friday's clinic, who had a booked appointment, but then didn't attend, and didn't cancel.

"If you can't make the clinic, please make sure you phone the Practice, even on the day of the clinic.

"All cancellations are replaced by the next person due to be offered a vaccine.

"By not cancelling, someone else misses out on the opportunity of a vaccination."
