In an update to customers, a Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd spokesperson said: “Our parent company Highlands and Islands Enterprise and its contractors are continuing to work towards returning the mountain railway to service as soon as possible, although they are unable to provide a definite date at present.

“At this stage realistically, we do not anticipate it will return before the start of the February half term period but we will provide updates on a commencement date as soon as we have one.”

The half-term dates for the Highlands are February 19 and February 20 with an in service day on February 21.

The February holidays are traditionally the busiest time of the winter season for the resort and local businesses in the strath.
