There has been no break-through yet on discussions to ensure access for strath residents to the village swimming pool after Christmas.

The Strathy understands that talks are continuing between pool owners Macdonald Hotels and Highland Council over access to the facility at the Aviemore resort.

A council spokeswoman said: "There is nothing more to be added at this point in time beyond the last statement sent on November 27.

"This states that the Highland Council has agreed an extension to the Aviemore pool contract for one month until December 27."

It is believe the dispute revolves around an unspecified matter rather than the funding package on offer this time.

Hotel group boss Donald Macdonald and council chief executive Donna Manson are expected to meet on Friday in an attempt to make headway.

The council's High Life Highland scheme allows cheap access to swimming at the pool and HLH facilities for its members across the region.
