NHS Highland's thanks for the support
NHS Highland’s medical director has thanked the public for their support and co- operation during the first week of new regulations on social distancing, but has urged people not to become complacent.
Former Grantown GP Boyd Peters has a leading role to play in tackling the pandemic in the region.
He is encouraging people to continue to adhere to social distancing guidance and says that it is starting to have an impact on the spread of Covid-19.
He said: “I want to thank the public for their ongoing support in following the national guidance on social distancing. Following these guidelines will help collectively save lives and ease the pressure on our NHS.
“The statistical evidence from around the world shows that the social distancing measures are starting to work in slowing down the spread of the virus.
"However, it is important we don’t become complacent and continue to practise social distancing and staying at home where possible.
“We understand that social distancing is challenging for people, especially those who are separated from family members during this time, but I would urge everyone to continue the collective effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
“I would ask everyone to protect those in your community who are most vulnerable.
"By complying with social distancing you can be a hero. You can save lives. Please stay at home.”
Social distancing measures are steps everyone should take to reduce the social interaction between people. This will help reduce the spread of Covid-19.
