NHS Highland staff thanked for 'exceptional' work during Covid-19 crisi
NHS Highland chairman Professor Boyd Robertson has thanked health board staff for their “exceptional work” during the Covid-19 ourbreak.
The letter was issued ahead of the now weekly National Clap for the NHS and was co-signed by vice chairwoman Ann Clark.
The correspondence states: “We want to express our gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional work being undertaken by you and all of your colleagues in NHS Highland during this global emergency.
“Whether you are working in a health or social care setting, delivering direct care or supporting services, in your usual role or in one new to you, your willingness to pull together to transform our services at pace, despite personal concerns has been truly humbling.
“The overwhelming response from the public, businesses and communities is a testament to the value they also place on your efforts.”
The letter went on to address the impacts on staff of dealing with the virus in what is a highly stressful and pressured environment for staff given the ever-present risk of infection.
It continued: “The current pandemic will affect all of you in different ways physically, emotionally, socially and psychologically.
"We are doing our best to make sure that you have the support and resources you need to get through the days ahead and to address any concerns about staff welfare.”
The health board announced at its last meeting, which was held largely by video conference, that as a result of the Covid-19 situation it had secured the services of Glasgow-based Validium on a one year contract to support staff.
It was expected that the company’s services would be in place and operational by the start of the month.
