Praise for NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team
NHS Highland’s health protection team have been praised for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The team have provided round-the-clock support to care homes across Highland, Arygll and Bute as well as overseeing the Health Board’s Test and Protect programme.
Joanna MacDonald, the Chief Officer of the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “NHS Highland has a Care Home Oversight Group which meets every fortnight to provide governance and assurance over the management of Covid-19 across all 70 care homes in Highland, Argyll and Bute.
“The oversight group includes a number of senior executive leaders across NHS Highland and each of us has been extremely impressed by the work of NHS Highland’s health protection team over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They have provided dedicated support, expert advice and professional guidance as well as daily phone calls with every care home across our health board area. They have worked incredibly hard to ensure our care homes and wider communities are as safe as possible during these uncertain times.
“Most of the work they do takes place behind the scenes; they are the unsung heroes of this pandemic. The Care Home Oversight Group wants to thank each and every member of the health protection team for their diligence and commitment to ensure people across Highland, Argyll and Bute remain safe.”
