Newtonmore Post Office reopens under new ownership
Newtonmore Post Office has reopened under new ownership and has had a refit too.
Ken Tait and his staff from The Postbox in neighbouring Kingussie have taken over after the two-week closure for the renovations.
The opening hours at the branch which remains on Main Street are Monday to Saturday 9am to 4pm.
This provides 42 hours of Post Office service a week for the convenience of customers.
David Duff, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “Newtonmore Post Office has now re-opened after a refit by the new owners which required the branch to be temporarily closed for the work to take place.”
The Irvine family had previously been providing the vital rural service for 44 years - first through Charlie and then latterly his son Graeme and wife Jodie.
The couple were reluctant to see it come to an end, especially at their own hand, so held out until a new owner could be found who was willing to retain the Post Office.
For that dedication, they were warmly thanked at a recent public send off as Mr Irvine prepared to close the door on his long career as a postmaster.
Customers of the main UK banks can access accounts at new branch.
Services include bill payment, cash withdrawals and foreign currency, Postage, home shopping collections and returns.
The branch closed from 8 July to allow the new owners to undertake the refurbishment.
The Post Office is helping anyone who wants cash to get it whichever way is most convenient.
Partnership with over 30 banks, building societies and credit unions means that 99 per cent of UK bank customers can access their accounts at their Post Office.
