Six lucky families on a Newtonmore street are currently sporting big beaming smiles after hitting the jackpot.

The neighbours on Clune Terrace scooped a total of £30,000 with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

They struck gold when their postcode, PH20 1DY, was drawn as the weekly Street Prize winner with the charity lottery.

Each winning ticket won £4,285, with one lucky winner - Ron Kennedy - picking up £8,570 for his two tickets.

Mr Kennedy was not around when the TV presenter Angus Purden and his crew came calling but his daughter, Morgan, was more than happy to pick up the cheque on his behalf.

New mum Carrie McNiven couldn’t believe it either when Purden dropped by with a cheque for £4,285 to surprise her and baby Evie.

“I can’t believe I’ve won, but I’m so happy I have!”, laughed Carrie. “I’m getting married next year, so this will go straight to the wedding fund, with a little treat for Evie as well of course.”

Ron and the other families weren’t the only winners this week.

People’s Postcode Lottery players also raised over £82,000 for the People’s Postcode Trust this week, a grant-giving charity which funds projects that benefit local communities.

See the next issue of the Strathy out on Wednesday for reaction from more of the lucky winners.
