New Strathspey Kirks minister says it has not been an easy journey
The new minister of the Strathspey Kirks is settling in well and looking forward to her first Christmas in the job.
The congregation of Cromdale and Advie linked with Grantown and Dulnain Bridge welcomed the fledging Highlands and Islands Presbytery officials to Inverallan Church for the recent Induction of Reverend Jade MacLean.
As session clerk Bill Steele explained: “The Strathspey Kirks have not had a Minister for 43 months and were pleased to welcome our first female Minister recently.
“It is also Jade's first solo charge, having been ordained into the Church of Scotland earlier this year before becoming a team Minister in the Ardnamurchan area.
“As it's the Advent season, she has been very busy since her induction but already loves this area very much.”
Rev MacLean is settling into her new home in Grantown and has “much unpacking to do yet!”
Rev MacLean started training for ministry whilst undergoing treatment for Leukaemia and has said that she could not have followed her calling without the support of her church community and those around her.
A former crofter, she went on to become an assistant minister in Lochaber. She was ordained on 24 February.
"I always felt called to the ministry since I became a Christian.
“All along I've known ministry is what I'm supposed to be doing.
"Along the way I lost my dad and my sister so it's not been an easy journey getting here but I've never doubted that this is what I'm supposed to do."
