New permanent headteacher is appointed for Badenoch and Strathspey’s largest school

Highland Council education bosses have confirmed that Gavin Murphy is Kingussie High School’s new permanent headteacher.

Mr Murphy has taken the role with immediate effect.

He had been the acting headteacher following the recent departure of Ian Adamson who took on the top job at Inverness Royal Academy following the Easter break.

Fiona Shearer, the council’s area education and learning manager, said: “I am delighted to confirm that Mr Gavin Murphy has been appointed as the permanent headteacher for Kingussie High School which will start with immediate effect.

“I am sure everyone will join me in wishing Mr Murphy well as he starts in his role as the new substantive headteacher at the school.”

Kingussie High School is the largest school in the strath with 384 pupils.
