Grantown, Dulnain Bridge and Cromdale congregations to hear new minister
There are three Strathspey Kirks sharing a minister - it’s just that they currently have no minister at all.
But that situation is set to change after some good news.
The grouping of Cromdale and Advie Church linked with Grantown-on-Spey and Dulnain Bridge Church brings two congregations together but that arrangement has meant that both flocks have been without a shepherd for three years.
The good news is that a committee was elected in November 2023 when they received permission to call a minister by the Faith & Nurture Forum of the Church of Scotland, explained Bill Steele at Grantown and Dulnain Bridge.
“Their remit was to seek applicants and to decide on a sole nominee from amidst the candidates to recommend to the congregations.”
He explained: “They have chosen Reverend Elizabeth Jade MacLean as our sole nominee
“She will preach on Sunday, October 20, in Cromdale Church at 9.30am and then at 11am in Inverallan Church, Grantown.”
The congregations have then to choose to accept or not accept her as the kirks’ next minister.
Only those on the respective Church Electoral Rolls can vote and there are no proxy votes.
The vote will be done by ballot paper by each of the two congregations, immediately after the respective services.
The anonymised ballot papers will then be combined before being counted by two independent people. Once the vote has been announced , Rev MacLean can choose to accept the vote or not.
The two kirk sessions and congregations will be informed immediately the result of the count has been confirmed.
“Anyone in our communities can attend to hear her preach ; however, they have no vote unless they are already on the respective Electoral rolls.”
