BBC weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker has revealed June has never been hotter for longer in Aviemore since records started.

A new weather record has been set in Aviemore for number of hot days in June in the village.

BBC weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker revealed in the weather bulletin during Countryfile earlier this evening that the hot spell had raised the bar as well as the mercury locally.

Aviemore has had 11 days when temperature this June has been 25C or more.

The previous record was seven days in 1986.

Schafernaker told viewers: "Aviemore has already beaten its record so this is a trend consistent with global warming and not necessarily to be celebrated."

However, it appears that is the end of the hot spell following cooler weather sweeping in from the west earlier today. Temperatures are forecast only to be around 17C or 18C for the rest of the month.
