New Highland homes needed for special labradoodles
The Scottish SPCA's Inverness-based animal rescue and rehoming centre is appealing to experienced dog owners to consider giving two rather special labradoodles their forever home.
Dougal and Missy, both six years old, came into the charity's care when their previous owner could no longer look after them.
Dougal has a number of medical conditions which mean his new owner will need to have the resources and commitment to ensure he continues to enjoy a healthy and happy life while Missy dotes on Dougal to the extent that she cannot bear to be apart from him.
Staff at the Scottish SPCA's centre at Inshes are keen to rehome the dogs as a pair, but they know that finding someone to take on the responsibility of two large dogs is not going to be an easy task.
Centre manager Elaine Floyd said: "Dougal and Missy are a wonderfully laid-back duo who really deserves to be part of a loving family.
"We realise that rehoming two dogs is never something to be undertaken lightly and we also appreciate that caring for a dog with ongoing health concerns has cost implications.
"However, Missy is very closely bonded to Dougal so we're doing everything we can to find them a home together.
"Dougal has hip dysplasia and he also has a history of occasional fitting. However both these conditions are under control and we would fully discuss the matter with any prospective new owner to ensure they have all the information they need.
"Because of this we think Dougal would prefer a home where there are no young children.
"Dougal and Missy are a bit chunky so they're currently on a weight control programme.
"Their new owner would need to continue with the diet to ensure they remain at an optimal weight and they will both require gentle daily exercise.
"Although Dougal and Missy are quite big dogs, they are very chilled out and not at all boisterous or overly demanding in terms of their energy levels therefore we think they would make fabulous pets for the right person."
