Highland Council welcomes three head teacher appointments





The Highland Council has announced the appointments of three head teachers at primary schools in the Inverness and Badenoch and Strathspey areas.

Patricia Johnston is head at Kingussie Primary School, Robyn Hammond at Cauldeen Primary School and Joan Nelson at Glen Urquhart High School.

Ms Johnston, who has held head teacher and senior management posts in schools both at home in Scotland and overseas.

She and Mr Hammond, currently head at Ferintosh & Mulbuie Cluster Primary Schools in Highland, will take up their new posts later this month.

Ms Nelson was previously deputy head teacher at Glen Urquhart High School in Drumnadrochit.

Welcoming the appointments, chair of the education committee, Councillor John Finlayson, said: “I would like to congratulate each of our head teachers on their new appointments.

"I am sure staff, pupils, parents and the wider community of their respective schools are also delighted to see the posts filled and are looking forward to the stability this will bring as we approach the end of the year."
