Nethy Bridge woman given jail warning after missing community service
A woman who admitted attempting to defraud the HSBC bank of £8,000 while working as a customer service adviser at an Aviemore call centre appeared in court on Tuesday for failing to carry out a community service order imposed on her.
Claire McCusker, (32), of 1, Braes of Balnagowan, Nethy Bridge had been sentenced to 175 hours of community service for attempting to carry out the fraud by transferring money into her account while employed at the Hero TSC Call Centre in Aviemore on September 5, 2011.
McCusker admitted to breaching the community service order imposed on her at Inverness Sheriff Court on September 26, 2013 by failing to carry out the order.
Ken Ferguson, solicitor said the initial appointment for McCusker to discuss her community service had been cancelled.
"She was advised to get in touch within seven days to arrange another appointment but failed to do so and she received a final warning on October 17."
Mr Ferguson said McCusker did not appear to realise the order was imposed as a direct alternative to custody.
Sheriff Neilson increased the order from 175 hours to 200 hours and told McCusker she had one last chance to comply.
"If you breach again you are likely to go to prison."
