Women gets 10-year ban for dog neglect

AN ARDERSIER woman has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
Marlana Uppal was also placed on probation for one year when she appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday following a Scottish SPCA investigation.
Uppal, of Station Drive, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a suitable diet and living environment for her eight-year-old Chinese crested powder puff dog Paddy and not protecting him from injury, suffering and disease.
Paddy has made a full recovery and now has a new home.
"We’re happy that the court has imposed a 10 year ban as this poor dog was living in awful conditions and was not given the care he required," said senior Scottish SPCA inspector Andy Brown.
"Paddy was severely emaciated, had overgrown nails and his coat had to be shaved as it was badly matted and soaked in urine.
"Thankfully he made a full recovery and we found him a loving new home."
