Local fans' delight at JLS show

FAR North music fans were among those to enjoy entertainment from one of the country’s top boybands in Dingwall on Saturday night.

JLS were greeted by 10,000 adoring fans at Ross County’s home ground, Victoria Park Stadium.

The singers, who made their name by finishing second in X Factor, have taken the R & B world by storm, scoring a string of top-five hits.

Marvin, Aston, Oritse and JB arrived on stage asking if Ross County was ready to go “outta this world”.

Smiling and waving to the crowd, the four-piece performed some of its biggest hits such as “Beat Again”, “Everybody in Love”, “One Shot” and “Club is Alive”.

The stadium was bouncing as the group also performed covers of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, Jessie J’s “Price Tag” and hits from US boyband The Backstreet Boys.

Inspector David Greenlees, of Dingwall Police Station, said the concert passed without incident.

“This is the largest event Dingwall has ever hosted,” he said. “From our point of view, we were pleased that we did not have to make any arrests. On the whole the concert went smoothly and received a lot of positive feedback.”

Fellow X Factor star Olly Murs, who supported JLS, was also a massive hit with the crowd, especially when his skintight trousers ripped as a result of his energetic dancing.

Talented 16-year-old singer Katie Davies opened the event followed by Edinburgh five-piece band Jakil and Ayr-based musician Little Fire.
